Colour measurement of grain

The raw material cereals, i.e. grains from cultivated grasses such as wheat, rye, oats, barley, millet, maize, rice, etc., are subjected to visual quality tests, as are products made from these raw materials, such as muesli bars and animal feed. All cereals and grains, such as wholemeal, spelt, green spelt and seeds such as amaranth or quinoa are important nutritional bases and should therefore be given special consideration.

Whether grain is processed directly in mills or sold on as animal feed, uniform colouring is a component of quality assurance and is also easy to determine. HunterLab colorimeters are specialized in the measurement of grains and cereals. Various sample plates and cuvettes can be used to determine the colour of large and small quantities of product.
