Colour measurement on tablets
- How much colour or active ingredient must be added, or what proportion by weight must the coating have so that a capsule or tablet is appropriately coloured?
- At what quantity does further colouring no longer lead to a correspondingly more intense colouring?
- Is the colouring then equally intense for all samples?
- How can colour consistency be guaranteed in production?
These questions can only be answered with precise and reliable colour measurement. It is important that the measurement process is simple and quick to carry out and that the measurement results are easy to evaluate. With the Agera and UltraScan VIS spectrophotometers from HunterLab, it has never been easier to obtain accurate measurements.

Adapter covers
There are tablets and capsules in all possible sizes and different shapes. The usual apertures of spectrophotometers are often too large for tablets and are not designed for precise and repeatable positioning of the medication. HunterLab offers the perfect solution with special adapter apertures in various geometries and sizes. These adapter apertures are magnetically attached to the corresponding basic measuring apertures in order to carry out precise colour measurements on the medication using the Agera, UltraScan VIS or UltraScan PRO spectrophotometers
Measurement
The matching adapter aperture is magnetically centered exactly in front of the measuring opening of the device on the basic measuring aperture attached to the device. The sample is then placed in the recess of the adapter aperture or, if the aperture is vertical, fixed there with a finger. The measurement can then be performed directly from the EasyMatch QC software (also available as an FDA/GMP-compliant version with Electronic Record Keeping): EasyMatch QC ER) or triggered and analyzed on the device.
