64 mm glass cuvette filled with cocoa powder with matching aperture on the ColorFlex EZ.
HunterLab recommends the ColorFlex EZ spectrophotometer and the use of a special 64 mm optical glass cuvette for measuring the colour of cocoa powder. By measuring the sample from below through the glass base, you have a perfectly flat and homogeneous measuring surface. The cuvette aperture of the ColorFlex EZ also ensures that the cuvette is always positioned centrally above the aperture.
Powders consist of tiny particles. To ensure uniform colour measurement, a uniform surface should be created.
Four samples of cocoa powder: light brown, medium brown, dark brown? The naked eye does not provide reliable colour values.
A generous amount of cocoa powder is therefore placed in a 64 mm round glass cuvette. Sufficient coating thickness minimizes the effects of incident ambient light and guarantees precise measurements.
Carefully tap the cuvette once briefly on a hard surface so that the powder settles a little and then place it on the aperture so that the powder can be measured through the glass bottom of the cuvette. (Make sure that no powder gets onto the aperture!)
Colour measurement is triggered at the touch of a button and the measured values are shown directly on the display.
